Hone a talent or try something new on Hotchkiss's beautiful 800-acre campus in Lakeville, Connecticut. Summer Portals is a residential program designed to let students dive deep into a subject they love — or explore something completely new — in a unique, close-knit learning community.

Students typically enroll in two courses (one per session) and stay the full four weeks, but can also choose a single 2-week session. Courses vary each year and have included Environmental Science, Robotics, Speech & Debate, Software Engineering, Astronomy, and American Literature & Theater — plus a specialized Piano Program for gifted young pianists that has previously included a performance at Carnegie Hall.

Summer@Taft is a residential academic enrichment program held on Taft's campus in Watertown, Connecticut. Designed to broaden horizons and stimulate intellectual curiosity, the program offers students real choice in their academic path — from core subjects to focused 2-week institutes.

Students choose from a wide range of core academic courses in English, Mathematics, Science, Languages (including ESL), Social Sciences, and Arts. A typical day includes three academic classes, a FLEX period (focusing on social-emotional skills and time management), and a daily athletic program.
